Lisa Bidelspach, founder of Step-One, attended Texas State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education and soon followed with a Master of Science in Education from Baylor University. She went on to teach various courses in science at the high school level and retired from public education after 30 years of service in Texas. She brought a unique aspect to the classroom in her last year of teaching by getting her students involved in a global service project. Her mantra was “we can’t do everything for everyone but we can do something for someone”. When not working in Africa, she enjoys volunteering at the Houston Wildlife Rehab and Education Center, coaching local runners, and taking to the roads for a long bike ride.
